Almeria , the most easterly of Andalusia’s provinces has the sunniest and driest climate with only 17 days of rain a year and is the least populated. Full of wild dramatic landscapes and desert scenery, it is the home of the spaghetti westerns. It has magnificent mountain ranges, castles, including the largest Moorish castle in Andalusia, Alcazaba built in AD995 and the unspoiled bays and beaches. Almeria appeals to those that seek the ‘real’ Spain. Thanks to the farmlands of the area this is one of the wealthiest parts of Spain. There is a ferry operating from La Rambla allowing you to pop across to North Africa. The properties in this area are still good value for money but are rising fast so if Almeria appeals to you get in quickly.
